Disney's Frozen Cake

This year, summer's most requested birthday party theme is all about the snow and ice!! Yes...that's right, this week's cake is a Frozen-themed masterpiece, complete with edible cake toppers. I'm not denying the fact that I watched the movie several times (purely for inspirational purposes lol). As a result, "Let it Go" is now firmly stuck in my head. Again, not complaining, because I think I love Frozen just as much as the birthday girl herself! Once again, Happy Birthday Kenadie!

Toy Story's Woody-inspired Cake

Absolutely loved making this cake for a friend who, needless to say, loves Woody...Happy Birthday Tyson!! While it was inspired by a cartoon character, there was nothing childish about the flavor—this was one grown-up cake—white cake with layers of Bailey's Irish Cream mousse. Mmm Mmm Mmm!!

Harlem Nights Inspired Cake

It's not often you get a cake that needs to be unisex (other than a wedding cake, of course, and let's be honest, those are really all about the bride). So this one was created to be a fabulous, two-sided, 'his and hers' cake! Hand-painted details gave it a vintage vibe, while jewels and feathers finished it off with a classic opulence typical of the era.

Blush Pink Dessert Table

I'm happiest when there is something sweet within reach! It's true. Something about sugar translates to happiness in my brain—not the best news for my hips, mind you, because who wants to just look at sweet treats?! Having a sliced-open cake in the studio was probably not the smartest move (considering it is January and those New Year resolutions are still in the forefront of my mind), however, I really wanted to show you what goes into a De la Creme cake slice. So I made a second cake just for you guys (*sigh) oh, the sacrifices I'm willing to make :-)  Be sure to scroll to the end of this post to see what goes on under the fondant here at De la Creme. And bring on the dessert tables…the more sweet, delicious treats, the better!

So, what goes into a slice of De la Creme cake (other than sugar and spice and all things nice)? Well, since we pay just as much attention to what goes on under the fondant as we do to creating masterpieces that wow your guests at first glance, even our slices are beautiful in their own rights (and after taste-testing way beyond what was actually necessary  I can assure you, they taste pretty darn good too). Whether ordering one of our standard cakes or splurging on a premium cake (like the Chocolate Raspberry Amaretto example below), you get four layers of cake and three layers of filling all nestled under a snug coat of buttercream and fondant...and a whole lot of happiness free of charge :-)

Amazing Holiday Cake

For this cake, I took inspiration from the season and designed a Towering Cake of Christmasness (and yes, that is a word I just invented). For a modern look, I used a duck egg blue in place of the traditional green, and brought in stunning details like the hand-crafted, edible baubles and a flawless candy cane stripe. And what's not to love about glitter and gold and crispy, white snow?! Standing over two feet, this cake had sixteen layers of moist carrot and red velvet cake. Cream cheese filling anyone?!!

Bold Cake Design

This weekend's cake was a little different than my usual style (which is normally very understated), but I dived right in and had loads of fun creating a tower cake with bold colors and strong design elements...it was for a boy after all...and not all cakes get to be pink and pretty. Finished this one up ahead of schedule (for once) and actually had plenty of time to get it in the studio for a mini photo shoot AND have a cup of coffee before delivery. What a weekend of firsts!!
