Chanel Sugar Shoe (and a Designer Cake to Match)
Sugar (not spice) is what these shoes are made of!!! But who would want to eat such a little beauty?! Well, luckily for us, we don't have to make that decision. It's all up to Sherryl to answer the question, "Keep or Eat?" Personally, I'd keep the shoe and cut myself a nice big slice of the French Vanilla Cake with Salted Caramel Buttercream!!! :-P
Royal Baby Shower Cake in French Blue
Cake, royalty, and that extra wow-factor. That is how we helped this mother-to-be welcome Baby Zay into the world… we just happen to think it couldn't be any more perfect than that. Unless of course, you add in a dozen royal cupcakes as well. Congratulations on your new arrival, may he be as sweet as this cake ;-)
EDIT: A tutorial is available on how to create this edible royal crown.
Watering Can Cake
What better way to celebrate an avid gardener's 75th birthday than with a watering can cake full of beautiful sugar flowers. This was a sweet little cake for an intimate gathering, with an even sweeter interior of french vanilla cake and strawberry buttercream. Yum!
Bespoke Wine Bottle Cake
This was such an awesome request. Ms. Bair, the birthday girl (who just turned fifty) has always dreamed of starting her own wine label, she even has a name picked out—Two Bairs! Her friends and family, wanting to surprise her with an edible version of what that dream could look like, contacted us to make the magic happen.
This cake started long before we began baking. First we designed a custom company logo, then we created a fun wine label with two dancing bears that could be replicated on edible paper. Then we baked. And the rest is just a little cake we threw together with epic results (did we mention that it's 100% edible?!) Oh, and we also made some gorgeous sugar grapes. But don't let their healthy appearance fool you, this cake was sheer indulgence...rich chocolate cake, and decadent chocolate mousse topped with chocolate ganache...but you only turn fifty once, right?!
Stunning Louis Vuitton Cake
Louis Vuitton is all about fabulous style, and here at De la Creme Creative Studio, fabulous is what we specialize in. So when we were approached to create a stunning cake for a glamorous event, we pulled out all the stops!! No expense was spared for Kymberly's birthday bash at Scape Bistro and "Fabulous Style" was the buzz word of the night. From the stunning venue and the decadent floral arrangements to the three-tier, chocolate and caramel, LV luggage set cake (which we happened to create), guests were surrounded by luxury and we were more than thrilled to be a part of it...
(Also, any time I get to set up a cake on a gold, glittery tablecloth, I do a little happy dance in my head).
Double Helix Showstopper Cake
Can you create a show-stopping, three-dimensional, double helix cake that stands over six feet tall? Our response…"Sure!!" I'm not saying it was easy, but we certainly delivered everything that Washington University asked for when they commissioned a cake to celebrate the dedication of The Elizabeth H. and James S. McDonnell, III McDonnell Genome Institute.
When on display in the airy foyer of the Eric P. Newman Education Center, the spirals on the double helix reached a staggering 6.5 feet!!
Elizabeth H. McDonnell, along with husband James S. McDonnell, III, being presented the Helix Cake as a token of appreciation for their remarkable gift to provide continual support for large-scale genomic research.
A combination of Double Chocolate Cake, French Vanilla Cake and French Vanilla Buttercream had the bottom tier of this cake weighing in at 50lbs all by itself. Photo courtesy of Beaven Photography.
Months of meticulous planning resulted in a flawlessly, executed cake that (we believe) entitles us to an honorary, structural engineering degree. Above Left: Photo courtesy of Beaven Photography. Check out the video below to see what happens when you rotate the cake…my inner geek is jumping up and down saying "Whoa…that's sooo cool!!!"
Harry the Bunny Cake
Meet Harry the Bunny, the edible cake topper. Question...why make him edible when he's too cute to eat?!
Ariel's Gift
The ever-charismatic Sebastian, surprises Ariel with a pile of prettily-wrapped gifts in this Little Mermaid-inspired birthday cake. Classic white cake with vanilla buttercream, and of course, a matching set of vanilla swirl cupcakes, each with a beach themed topper to go along with it. I'm not sure what I love more, Sebastian or the cute, little gifts!
Gold, Glittery, Graduation Cake
This week we are celebrating Precious, who just graduated from University!! After putting in all that hard work, she deserved every inch of this towering cake of decadent, glitzy gold. And at her request, we crowned this little beauty with a hand-sculpted, edible, Lindenwood Lion Mascot topper. We knew this cake had to be fabulous, and nothing says luxury-glam like black and gold. So from the sketch through the planning and production stages, we were channeling our inner diva and adding details like glittery gold dots, shimmery gold stripes, deep tufted quilting and a precious metal monogram (sorry, could resist the pun) :-)
Measuring in at just under two feet tall, this four-tier marble cake arrived looking like it was born to party...Work it, you gorgeous thing!! And once again, congratulations Precious. Xx
Make-a-wish Elmo Cake
As you can image, I had way too much fun making this Sesame Street-themed birthday cake for Amir—it's practically a party on a plate! Balloons, cake, cupcakes, cookies and bright, cheerful colors—it had everything. Oh, and let's not forget to mention the cute, little, edible Elmo cake topper. This little guy was just ready and waiting to make his wish. Vanilla and raspberry buttercream cake complete with a matching set of cupcakes filled with a raspberry swirl center.
